...this sort of vision is way overdue. This is really intelligent music with a groove - maybe a new genre: classical IDM (!). Love the mix of the tight bottom end with lots of cohesive movement on top - a nice change from much of the disjointed and glitchy freneticism that makes up a good deal of the current mixes dominating the DJ scene. It is really refreshing when you can tell that a true musician is making the beats (vs. just a loop and sample deck jockey). I really hope to hear more from this guy.

Being a musician myself, this revolutionary style of electronica is something I can totally dig, Fun and easy to groove to and very easy on the ears. Complex compositions over groovy beats. What's not to LOVE? Great job, Brian, and keep up the good work!

I have never heard anything like this in my life. I am a huge lover of electronic music of all sorts. I like classical a bit but honestly don't know much about it. This music is getting me interested in learning more about classical. The tracks on this album make me smile and prevent me from sitting still in my seat....I have to dance! I'd like to hear more of this stuff!!

Deliciously Evocative 5.0 out of 5 stars

Okay, so I'm not your average classical music listener. A little Bach now and then, but in general I tend towards Stevie Ray Vaughan, Moby, Luscious Jackson and REM. From the opening phrase of the first symphony it drew me in. Made me want to hit "Repeat." Easy to access, Senses Rising has a melodic and graceful sound, but like a good independent film, it doesn't let me get too comfortable. In each piece I'm surprised as the music veers off into new territory, and psyched, too, when it returns me to firmer ground. Through Senses Rising Brian Sager requires, almost demands, my active participation, something I seek and value in all art. The first two pieces, the symphonies, are an emotional potpourri. They're textured and compelling as they shift from being at times inviting, to at times ominous, to melancholy, then searching, and ultimately uplifting. Strategically placed mid-CD, is the Wedding Sonata, the most traditional piece of the collection. Given a moment to pause in more familiar terrain, I'm gripped, moved, by the tenderness, reverence and vulnerability conveyed by the string quartet as they perform this piece. Three Impressions for Solo Piano are playful and diverse with a contemplative side to them, too. The concluding piece for solo piano entitled, Sunlight Breaking, is a energizing and pleasing with it's shifting synchronicities, bitonal sounds and staccato sensibilities.
Kudos to Brian Sager and new Classical Music for this unique and deliciously evocative debut CD. A treat for the classic classical listener and the nubie alike.

Senses Rising is an exceptional album that is more enjoyable every time I listen to it. There are subtle notes sprinkled throughout that are discovered only by listening over and over. And what a treat it is to hear it. I do not consider myself a classical aficionado, but a do love a wide range of music and this is a classic in my mind. Bravo Brian!

Perfect Sense 5.0 out of 5 stars

Why "Senses Rising" ? I keep listening, while at work, while at leisure, while traveling, and it helps me in ways I can't say I'm entirely conscious of. "Mentally refreshing," would be an apt way to describe the music but that's too catchy. The music, tonal, melodic, is surprisingly *not* too catchy. Nor is it too Baroque, too Impressionistic, too Classical, too Modern. It's just as much of each of these as I happen to like. That's what I was secretly hoping for when I picked this cd up and I'm extremely pleased with what I got.
